The Noble Delusion

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we so love them without expecting anything back

More so, we feel burdened to keep watch of their track

Subsequently forgetting that eyes stand behind us

doing and requiring the same similitude and accountability.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we can be strong all by ourselves not needing anybody

Melt down, set backs, complaints and pain

is what we see when the curtains closes behind us.

Misconstruing pride for confidence and faith,

the strolling continues to a pit of destruction and deviation.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we can understand everybody

when we absolutely doubt that we can.

Posing well in the chair of a gentleman's act

and a counselor's charade,

We lure others into a confidant's service

to find a sermon for the tickling ear.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we're not responsible for the hasty decisions we make.

So we refuse to accept the fact that we made wrong choices

on the premise of faith, hope and love.

Hiding behind the pure love of God yet not ready to take responsibility

for our actions and learn the lessons it brings.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we have the answer to every question that always plagues the minds

of the young lions and the frightened deer.

Unable to admit to the ignorance of what we do not understand,

Exasperation forged into spiritually unrealistic solutions

becomes our response to send the dog on a death errand.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we have seen and experienced it all.

The crippling disease of maturity

in those that have gone ahead of the younger generation.

As we fail to recognize the tyranny of the rectification

of our mistakes in younger generations.

Buried amidst the passions of raising a much better generation,

new wolves are born in hope of lambs.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we are humble and meek more than our contemporaries.

We project a mirage to be accepted by the world and people around us.

The need to be acknowledged and loved strike us into postures

to excite and thrill our peers to gain favors to voice out our manifesto.

Sweet talks and character assassination becomes our ticket

to smuggle more of what we cannot possess.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we can offer effective help to everyone around us.

Sidelining every other source of solution

What if I loose my credibility in their eyes?

What if they no longer regard and honor me as they used to?

What if they gain interest in him more than what I can offer?

Insecurity devouring our confidence into mere bravados.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we can handle the consciousness of everyone's weakness.

Launching us into a clash with our own theological titans.

We are pressured to respond from our religiosity.

Inevitably dispersing the sheep to their detriment and self condemnation.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That the woman can marry the man

when she barely understands what and who she is.

And he barely knows why and what on earth he is here for.

Knowing that the marriage will only bless them with a death sentence,

we cowardly lead them on and on by the story of a love fantasy.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we accepted God's call with no expectation of the momentary display

and flaunting of our prowess behind pulpits.

We accepted on the draft of our own job description

Now, we are concurrently struggling with the relief of its resignation,

the fear of failure in life,

and the thrill of hoping to have the promise of God fulfilled.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we can truly love others without God

Connecting by emotions and familiarity, we say,

"I love you".

Simultaneously, puzzled by the possibility of what it really is about.

As we see a different result from what we were told it would be.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That we can comprehensively live out our spirituality

when we isolate the spiritual from the affairs of the physical.

Subjecting us to a perpetual life of duality

and seeming fraudulence of character.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That it is God that predestined our mistakes for our learning.

Teaching such anomalies as the way of divinity

while we contradictive-ly say that He is perfect and flawless,

Only to justify our discrepancies and alleviate our guilt.

Lets not deceive ourselves

That the Father is angry with us in our vulnerability and defects.

His mercies and grace are ever before us to feast on

Always endeavoring in Love to assist and aid us on a glorious path

And not holding our faults against us.
